"Professionally Oriented Classes" started operating from the 2019-2020 academic year with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Currently, "Professionally oriented classes" continue the teaching process with 232 classes, more than 4000 students, 694 teaching staff in 196 schools across the country. Professional qualifications such as carpenter, locksmith, cook, combi-conditioner, furniture installer, agronomist, tailor, confectioner, hairdresser, help desk, graphic designer, computer operator are taught in the oriented classes.
To study in vocationally oriented classes, after completing the 9th grade, you need to apply to the schools where vocationally oriented classes are located. Students studying in these classes take general education subjects as well as theoretical and practical lessons according to the relevant professional specialty. At the end of the academic year, students take an exam on the professional specialties they have studied and obtain a state model certificate. Also, in order to increase the competence of students, they are taught the subject "Basic Competencies".
According to the "Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022─2026" approved by the President of the country Mr. Ilham Aliyev, by 2026 it is planned to reach 15% of the special weight of schools with vocationally oriented classes in general education.
Vocational classes are intended for students in grades 10-11 and operate within general education schools. After completing the 9th grade in order to study in a vocationally oriented class, the student must apply to his school or the school where the vocationally oriented class is located and change the school.
Within the framework of the "Organization of Professionally Oriented Classes" project, 12 professional specialties are taught in 4 profiles (agriculture, repair and construction, service, IT). These are: Agronomist, Air conditioner, Carpenter, Furniture installer, Locksmith, Cook, Hairdresser, Tailor, Confectioner, Helpdesk, Graphic designer, Computer operator.
The main goal of creating vocationally oriented classes intended for X-XI graders is to create conditions for students to acquire basic knowledge and skills in various professional specialties. Inculcating entrepreneurial skills in students and training personnel in accordance with the requirements of the labor market are also among the goals of the project.
When there is a corresponding vacancy in the vocational classes, the announcement is shared on the social media pages. Based on the applications, the first stage exams are organized with the candidates who meet the requirements. In the second stage, the candidates are given a task and the candidate makes his presentation in a face-to-face meeting. In the second stage, cooperation is offered to the candidate who showed the best results. If there are other candidates with good results, they are added to the reserve list. In the future, if necessary, another interview is organized with that candidate.
